Foreign Credit Rating Firms Visit Gaesong Complex

Senior officials from major global financial firms have visited the inter-Korean Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said that three representatives of the global credit ratings firm Moody's and three from Goldman Sachs on Friday toured the complex with officials from Seoul's Unification Ministry and Finance Ministry.

The two firms reportedly arranged the trip to assess the situation of the inter-Korean industrial complex, as well as the communist country’s economic condition and its will to reform.

The Unification Ministry official said the visit, which was requested by the firms, could positively affect Moody's credit rating for South Korea.
