NK: Rewards Agreed for Temporary Nuke Suspension

North Korea's state-run media say that five participants to the six-party talks agreed to offer energy and economic aid equivalent to a million tons of heavy fuel oil if North Korea “temporarily suspends” operation of its nuclear facilities.

The six-way talks on the North Korean nuclear problem reached agreement in Beijing Tuesday.

In brief coverage on the conclusion of the talks, the North’s Korean Central News Agency said and state-run television broadcasts that North Korea and the U.S. have agreed to start bilateral talks to settle other pending issues and normalize their diplomatic ties.

These reports by North Korean state-run media agencies differ from the Beijing agreement, which promises economic and energy aid only when Pyongyang “disables” its nuclear facilities.
