Gov't to Hold Energy Working Group Meeting Early March

The government plans to hold the first working group meeting on energy aid to North Korea early next month in South Korea, as agreed in the six-way nuclear deal.

A government source explained the planned timetable saying each working group must submit a report to the six-way talks' chief delegates before the next round opens March 19th.

On Tuesday, the six-nation talks in Beijing struck a North Korean nuclear dismantlement deal and agreed to form five working groups on economic cooperation, energy aid, denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and normalizing Pyongyang's ties with Washington and Tokyo.

It was agreed that the working groups would hold their first meetings in 30 days.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, Seoul will organize a government-wide task force including Foreign and Unification Ministry officials to prepare for the working group talks.
