Gov’t to Discuss Working Group for Energy to N. Korea

The government is expected to hold a preparatory meeting this week for a working group on energy aid to North Korea and economic cooperation in accordance with the six-party denuclearization accord signed in Beijing last week.

A source close to the proceedings said Monday that, as Seoul is chairing the six-nation energy working group, South Korean officials from the Foreign, Unification and Commerce Ministries will discuss how to organize its activities.

This week’s meeting is expected to tackle how the nation will fund and transport its portion of 50-thousand tons of heavy fuel oil to the North.
