N. Korea Celebrates Lunar New Year's Day

North Korean state-run media report that the North Korean people enjoyed various events to celebrate Lunar New Year's Day on Sunday.

The communist country's official Korean Central Broadcasting Station reported that Pyongyang citizens ate traditional pan-fried dishes and noodles, showing clips of residents in the North Korean cities of Wonsan, Hamheung and Chongjin strolling in traditional clothes and playing a traditional stick-throwing game, yutnori.

As North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s birthday on Friday preceded the Lunar New Year’s holidays from Saturday to Monday, North Koreans are enjoying a four-day weekend.
