U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesman Philip T. Reeker said Thursday the United States will attach no preconditions to its dialogue with North Korea.
In a daily press briefing in Washington DC, Reeker mentioned the United States' "desire to move ahead on a dialogue and an offer of dialogue with North Korea. He added that "the US government is awaiting a response from the North Koreans on that.
His remark was given as an answer to a journalist's question, who asked whether the United States is looking for an equal dialogue with North Korea and why the United States doesn't have it.
The journalist pointed out the North Korean officials attending the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Hanoi said they were looking for an "equal dialogue with the United States."
He did not further comment on North Korea's silence in regard to the United State's proposal for dialogue.
