The General Association of Korean Residents in the United States said Thursday that it will hold a rally against Japan's distortions in middle school history textbooks during an event to mark Korea's National Liberation Day on Aug. 15th.
The rally will also express objections to Japan's bid to become a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, said the umbrella organization of Korean-Americans' associations in 30 areas nationwide.
It said we won't accept Japan's history distortions and will employ all possible countermeasures through U.S. politicians and the United Nations.
It said the Japanese government's refusal to rectify the distortions reflects the country's rightist inclinations and disregard for Korea.
Apart from the rally, the association will also stage a campaign to gather 100,000 signatures to be delivered to the Korean, U.S. and Japanese administrations and parliaments at a later date.
