South-North Ministerial Talks to Open Tuesday

The 20th inter-Korean ministerial talks will open in Pyongyang on Tuesday for a four-day run.

The South’s delegation, led by Unification Minister Lee Jae-jeong, will depart for Pyongyang on Tuesday afternoon for the first Cabinet-level talks in seven months.

The South’s delegation said that it will propose normalization of inter-Korean ties, while urging North Korea to implement the February 13th six-way agreement on dismantling their nuclear program.

The North’s delegation, headed by Chief Cabinet Councilor Kwon Ho-ung, meanwhile, is expected to urge Seoul to resume the rice and fertilizer provision that was halted shortly after the North test-fired missiles last year.

The two delegations will attend a dinner banquet Tuesday night and open their full discussions Wednesday, unveiling their positions on key issues.
