A state-run think tank says a second inter-Korean summit will likely come in August.

The Korea Institute for National Unification said in a report that both Koreas feel the need for decisive momentum to restore their relations in pursuit of practical interests.

The report said Seoul needs another inter-Korean summit to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula and resolve North Korea's nuclear problem ahead of the presidential election in December.

The institute also said Pyongyang might want a summit as a symbolic opportunity to secure stable aid from Seoul.

The report said the inter-Korean summit will follow ministerial talks in the first half of the year and an exchange of envoys around June 15, the seventh anniversary of the 2000 summit.

The institute said a meeting of prime ministers from the two Koreas could come if a second inter-Korean summit is impossible.
