‘Disabling Yongbyon Facility to Pose No Problem’

The nation's top nuclear negotiator Chun Yung-woo says that steps to disable North Korea’s Yongbyon nuclear facility in accordance with the six-party agreement will pose no problem.

Chun returned to Seoul after meeting his North Korean counterpart Kim Kye-kwan in New York last weekend.

He quoted Kim as saying that Pyongyang would do its part if the other five parties carry out their promises contained in the six-party agreement signed last month.

Noting the keen interest by the other countries in the substance of the upcoming working group meeting on energy and economic cooperation, Chun said the North Korean envoy explained necessary preparations his country was making for the meeting.

Chun added that the remaining working groups on economic cooperation, denuclearization and Northeast Asian security would likely meet next week.
