Former PM Meets With NK's No. 2 Leader in Pyongyang

Former Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan on Thursday met with North Korea’s number-two leader Kim Yong-nam at the Mansudae Hall in Pyongyang.

The two exchanged views on a variety of issues, including ways to promote inter-Korean exchanges and humanitarian aid, implement the six-party agreement on the North Korean nuclear program and establish a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

Mr. Lee, who is visiting Pyongyang as chairman of the Uri Party’s Northeast Asia Peace Committee, is scheduled to move on to Beijing on Saturday for a meeting with Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan.

The former prime minister also plans to visit the United States and Japan to support their efforts aimed at normalizing relations with North Korea.
