The Korea Business Table Tennis Federation said...amid high public anger over Japan's distortions in its history textbooks, the Korea Business Table Tennis Federation (KTTF) said Saturday that it recently decided to suspend all exchanges with its Japanese counterpart indefinitely.
A KTTF official said...the decision resulted in the cancellation of the 2001 Korea-Japan regular business table tennis matches, originally scheduled to be held in Seoul from Aug. 29-Sept. 4.
The official said...since 1980, Korea and Japan have alternately hosted the championships every year until 1997 and every two years thereafter.
The official said...they have decided to postpone the games indefinitely, given the uneasy public sentiment over Japan in relation to the textbook issue.
He said...KTTF notified its Japanese partner of the decision last week, and the latter gave a reply agreeing on it.
He said...they plan to host the contest next spring if the textbook issue is settled harmoniously in the near future.
