Foreign Journalists Visit Gaesong Industrial Complex

A group of journalists from around the world visited an inter-Korean industrial complex in North Korea’s border city of Gaesong on Friday.

Eighty-six journalists, who came to Korea to attend a special conference of the International Federation of Journalists, toured the Gaesong Industrial Complex as part of the conference program, “Peace and Reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula.”

The Korean Journalists' Association chief Chung Il-yong said that his foreign colleagues seemed surprised at the complex's proximity to Seoul and showed deep interest in the wages and working conditions of North Koreans at the site.

A senior federation official, Ulrich Rummel, said that he was greatly impressed by the industrial park’s rapid development in a short period of time.
