Fifth Round of Video Family Reunions Open Tuesday

Separated families will be able to reunite with their North Korean relatives via video for the first time in more than five decades.

According to the South Korean Red Cross Monday, 60 separated families from each side will reunite with relatives across the border at 13 video reunion centers nationwide from Tuesday through Thursday.

The oldest South Korean participant is 102-year-old Choi Byeong-ok, who will reunite with his son and daughters in the North. The oldest North Korean participant is 83-year-old Kim Jong-nam, who will see his South Korean cousins.

Fifty-four South Korean separated families want to meet with long-lost spouses and children across the border, while six families wish to reunite with siblings. All 60 South Korean participants are older than 90.

The latest video reunions are the first in 13 months.
