Swimmer Park to Face Hackett in 1500M Freestyle

Teenage swimmer Park Tae-hwan will compete with world record holder Grant Hackett of Australia in a 1,500-meter freestyle qualifier at the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

As members of Group Five in the men's 1,500-meter freestyle, Park and Hackett will swim in adjoining lanes on Saturday. Hackett holds the world record of 14:34.56 for the event.

Park’s personal best in the 1,500-meter freestyle is 14:55.03, which he recorded in the Doha Asian Games last year to give him third place in the global rankings.
