Inter-Korean Red Cross Talks to Open Tuesday

The two Koreas will open working-level Red Cross talks on prisoners of war (POWs) at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort Tuesday.

The South’s delegation plans to urge the North to confirm whether South Korean abductees and POWs in the North are dead or alive.

The South Korean delegation is also expected to underline that Seoul stands by its offer of bold economic assistance to resolve the abductee and POW issues as outlined in the 18th round of inter-Korean ministerial talks held in April of last year.

South Korean negotiators also plan to discuss ways to expand and regularize reunions of separated families and promote active exchanges between them, including the exchange of letters.
