Red Cross officials from the two Koreas are meeting for a second day of talks Wednesday at North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort.
The two sides will continue to focus discussions on South Korean prisoners of war (POWs) and abductees in the communist state.
On the first day of talks Tuesday, the South’s delegation stressed the need to resolve the POW and abductee issues in a step-by-step manner and to make known the exact whereabouts of separated family members. The delegation also pushed for regular reunions of separated families and the exchange of letters.
In response, the North’s delegation offered to conduct a trial exchange of video messages between separated families that had reunited before. However, the North stopped short of agreeing to confirm the addresses of South Koreans who have been missing since the Korean War.
The inter-Korean Red Cross talks are scheduled to conclude on Thursday with the meeting's results to be announced later in the afternoon.
