Prosecutors questioned three former ownership-level officials of three media firms Wednesday on allegations of tax evasion.
Chang Jae-keun, former president of the Hankook Ilbo, appeared before the prosecution around 9:50 a.m. Cho Hee-Jun, former chairman of the Kookmin Ilbo, and Kim Byung-keun, ex-vice president of the Dong-A Ilbo, followed suit about 10 minutes later.
They were showered with questions from reporters upon their arrival but refused to respond.
In addition to these three former executives, the prosecution plans to summon Bang Sang-hoon, president of the nation's largest newspaper, the Chosun Ilbo, and Kim Byung-kwan, former honorary chairman of the Dong-A, to answer tax evasion allegations, perhaps as early as Thursday.
