Inter-Korean Econ. Talks to Open in Pyongyang

The two Koreas will hold their 13th inter-Korean economic cooperation talks Wednesday in Pyongyang.

During the four-day talks, the government plans to urge the North to implement initial steps toward its nuclear dismantlement in line with a six-way nuclear agreement reached on February 13th.

The South’s delegation is also expected to convey to the North that Seoul will decide on its provision of rice aid to the North after reviewing all circumstances surrounding the communist state.

The South plans to hold extensive discussions on holding test runs for two inter-Korean railways before the end of June and cooperation in light industry and mineral resources.

The South’s six-member delegation will head to Pyongyang on Wednesday afternoon aboard a direct flight from Seoul.

The latest South-North economic talks are the first in ten months.
