Uri Lawmakers Visit NK to Discuss Economic Coop.

A group of Uri Party lawmakers and business leaders have left on a four-day visit to North Korea.

Five lawmakers are going on the delegation including Representatives Kim Hyuk-kyu, Kim Jong-ryul and Lee Hwa-young.

Before leaving on Wednesday, the group told reporters that they would meet with the North’s parliamentary leader Kim Yong-nam and the head of its Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation Kim Yong-dae. They said they would discuss the establishment of a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and the expansion of economic exchanges between the two Koreas.

With regard to inter-Korean summit talks, Representative Kim Hyuk-kyu said that his delegation would not raise the issue first but would respond if the North proposed to discuss the matter.

He added that summit talks would be very useful for creating an inter-Korean economic community.
