Seoul Mulls NK's Proposal for General-level Talks

South Korea will decide Thursday whether to accept North Korea’s proposal to hold general-level military talks instead of working-level talks over preparations to conduct two cross-border railway tests.

The Defense Ministry said Wednesday that North Korea had suggested three days of general-level military meetings beginning Tuesday at Tongilgak Pavilion on the northern side of the Panmunjeom truce village.

The South may accept the North’s proposal if it is considered to be helpful for discussing a security guarantee for the inter-Korean railway tests.

However, some believe that South Korea may insist on holding working-level military talks instead.
