'No Problems Found With NK-Side Railways'

A government source says that North Korea's inspection of its section of two recently reopened inter-Korean railways has not turned up any technical problems, clearing the way for railway test runs scheduled for May 17th.

The source said that North Korean officials conducted a review on their side of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines last week and reportedly found no technical problems that would hinder the test runs.

The source said that such conclusions have been drawn because there was no second verification inspection.

The two Koreas will hold their fifth general-level defense talks Tuesday and discuss military safety guarantees required to proceed with the rail tests.
