President Kim Dae-jung encouraged his cabinet Tuesday to ensure the successful co-hosting of the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals and to reap maximum benefits from the games.
Chairing a cabinet session on World Cup affairs, President Kim called the international soccer tournament, "the ultimate global celebration."
Kim was quoted as saying we have to fully utilize this historic opportunity to turn it into a stepping stone for our leap to become a top-class nation.
South Korea and Japan co-hosts the World Cup finals next summer.
