Working-level talks on the final details for the test runs of two railways connecting North and South Korea have been delayed.
An official from the Unification Ministry said that, as of Saturday morning, the North had not yet sent word on the proposed talks, which were tentatively scheduled for Saturday.
During an unofficial dialogue on Wednesday, the two sides made a verbal agreement to hold the talks on Saturday as soon as an agreement was reached on measures to ensure the safety and security of the trial runs.
As a result, the official expected the dialogues to take place on Sunday or Monday instead, as Seoul and Pyongyang had no differences over holding the talks.
He said that the North’s delegation most likely did not have enough time to prepare for the working-level dialogues, since inter-Korean military talks had been extended for a day and a security guarantee for the railway tests had just been signed late Friday.
