Ex-Gyeonggi Governor Calls for Inter-Korean Summit

Former Gyeonggi Province Governor Son Hak-gyu has said that he hopes a second inter-Korean summit will come at the earliest possible date.

While visiting Pyongyang to attend an inter-Korean forum, the independent president hopeful said in his keynote speech that the two Koreas should be able to talk wherever and whenever to resolve any issues that exist between the two sides.

Son went on to say that the next inter-Korean summit talks should not only produce an agreement on establishing military trust, but also a declaration reflecting the strong commitment of the two leaders toward peace.

On the North Korean nuclear issue, he said the nations involved in the six-party nuclear talks must carry out what they to agreed to both earlier in February and back in September of 2005, following a principle of "action for action."

He also called on the North to take an active part in the dialogues.
