A Japanese daily says North Korea has developed a new missile with a range of five-thousand kilometers.

The Asahi Shimbun has cited South Korean officials as saying 12 of the new missiles were unveiled at a military parade in Pyongyang on April 25th. The event marked the 75th anniversary of the North Korean People's Army.

The paper said the intelligence is based on the analysis of U.S. satellite photos of the parade. Japan and South Korea think the missile is an advanced ground launcher type of the submersible ballistic missile SSN6 used by the Soviet Union in the 1960s.
