South and North Korea have agreed on the details for test runs of two recently reconnected inter-Korean railways.
During working-level talks held early Monday in the North’s border city of Gaesong, the two sides agreed that one-hundred South Korean and 50 North Korean passengers will ride aboard the trains during the test runs on Thursday.
The test runs will be conducted from ten in the morning to three in the afternoon and will cover a 27-kilometer section from Munsan to Gaesong on the western Gyeonggi line, and 25-and-a-half kilometers from Mount Geumgang to Jejin station on the eastern Donghae line.
After an opening celebration, the two trains, one on each railway, will leave Munsan Station and Geumgang Station at the same time and pass over the military demarcation line between the North and South later around noon.
The two sides have agreed to closely monitor their respective railway facilities up until the day of the trial runs.
