‘Gov’t to Seek Railway Talks with NK, Russia in June’

Korea Railroad (KORAIL) President Lee Chul says the government is trying to arrange the second trilateral railway talks with North Korea and Russia next month in Pyongyang.

While attending a launch ceremony for the test runs of inter-Korean railways, Lee told reporters Thursday that Moscow has already agreed and Pyongyang showed a positive response to a meeting.

The two Koreas and Russia would focus discussions on the proposed linking of the Trans-Korean and the Trans-Siberian railways. The first railway talks were held in 2004.

The KORAIL chief added that the test runs of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines would serve as a catalyst for the next series of trilateral railway talks.
