Major Chinese news media have covered the historic cross-border railway test runs between the two Koreas on Thursday.

State-run Xinhua News Agency and the People’s Daily ran breaking news coverage from Seoul immediately after a South Korean train departed from Munsan Station and a North Korean train left from Mount Geumgang Station.

Quoting South Korean Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung and North Korean Chief Cabinet Councilor Kwon Ho-ung, Xinhua said that the trains were crossing the heavily fortified military demarcation line for the first time in 56 years.

China Central Television (CCTV) reported in its afternoon news program that representatives from the two Koreas shared both trains, indicating that inter-Korean relations have entered a historic phase.
