Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported Friday that North Korea fired a series of short-range missiles into the East Sea earlier in the day.

Citing Japanese and U.S. sources, NHK said that the missiles were ship-to-surface, and that they were neither Nodong nor Daepodong-Ones.

The Japanese Defense Ministry and the South Korean Defense Ministry have not confirmed the missile test-firings, which are said to have come from both east and west coasts of the Korean Peninsula.
