Gyeonggi Mulling Yearly Ceramic Expo

Gyeonggi Province is considering holding the World Ceramic Biennale in the city of Icheon every year instead of every other year.

Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-soo made the suggestion after learning that the number of visitors to this year's expo which ended Sunday far surpassed expectations.

Working-level officials are reportedly reviewing various ways to implement the proposal.

But one official says that it's difficult to hold the event every year at its current size due to constraints in organizing and gathering ceramic works. He said that various options are under review including alternating the host city with two other Gyeonggi cities Gwangju and Yeoju.

Some six million people visited the month-long expo which opened April 28th, far more than the four million originally anticipated.
