Asiana Airlines said Monday that it has received word that American Airlines will suspend its code sharing arrangement with the Korean carrier as a result of the "non-compliance" rating the country received from the U.S. aviation safety authorities.
The foreign airline forwarded its intentions Saturday a day after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced a downgrading of Korea's air safety rating from "Category I" to "Category II."
The move is expected to cost Asia at least 16 million dollars in lost revenues.
