A newspaper in Japan says that North Korea’s National Tourism Administration has launched active efforts to attract foreign tourists.

The Choson Sinbo, which is published by the pro-Pyongyang General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, said Thursday that the state tourism organization is putting together various travel packages aimed at international travelers.

This year, it is pushing tourist spots such as North Korea's western port city of Nampo, as well as Sariwon and Haeju in Hwanghae Province and Anju in Pyongan Province.

The newspaper said that the administration is developing more travel packages using tourist attractions in Pyongyang and Gaesong, as well as the mountains of Baekdu, Myohyang and Chilbo.
