NK Urges SK to Send Rice Aid as Promised

South and North Korean chief delegates held their second meeting on the third day of ongoing inter-Korean ministerial talks which opened Tuesday in Seoul.

South Korean Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung and North Korean Chief Cabinet Councilor Kwon Ho-ung discussed the South’s provision of rice aid to the North during a one-hour meeting Thursday afternoon.

Seoul explained why it decided to postpone delivery of the rice but reaffirmed its intent to ship the rice as promised if certain conditions are met.

In return, North Korea repeatedly urged South Korea to keep its promise to provide the rice aid.

The closing meeting is scheduled to begin Friday morning at ten.
