A private U.S. foundation has begun providing humanitarian assistance to North Korea in the form of 60-thousand tons of flour.

The foundation MITZ agreed to provide the aid during talks with the North's National Economic Cooperation Federation and signed an official contract April 30th in Beijing.

The 60-thousand tons of flour are worth some 15-point-eight billion won.

Shipments began last month and are to continue through the end of August.
