6th Asian Coop. Dialogue in Seoul Monday

The sixth round of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue is set to take place Monday and Tuesday in Seoul, bringing together foreign ministers and Cabinet-level officials from 30 nations across Asia.

The Korean government says it will use the conference to strengthen its energy diplomacy, particularly with the seven Middle Eastern nations, three Central Asian states and Russia.

The meeting is expected to adopt the Seoul Information Technology Declaration which will include measures by technologically advanced nations to bridge the digital divide and help boost social unity in developing countries.

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue, created at the initiative of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinwatra, was launched in 2000 as an 18-member consultative body for Asian cooperation.
