The South Korean military said that a small wooden boat carrying two drunken North Korean men crossed the de-facto inter-Korean sea border off the west coast early Saturday.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement that the vessel came four kilometers into South Korean waters across the Northern Limit Line (NLL) about 21 kilometers southwest of the Yeonpyeong Islets about 2 a.m. Saturday. According to the Joint Chiefs, a navy patrol boat tugged the errant craft to the port of Incheon.

The JCS said that authorities found two drunk North Korean men aboard the vessel.

It said that authorities tried to send the ship to the North on the spot, but failed because the North Koreans were too drunk to follow safety measures. Military authorities say they will take steps to repatriate the two after an investigation.
