NK Halted Operation of its Nuclear Reactor

North Korea reportedly suspended operations at its Yongbyon nuclear reactor for ten days last month while it continued to delay implementation of the six-party denuclearization agreement reached in February.

An intelligence official said that operations at the reactor recently resumed after a ten-day suspension in May.

However, the official said that the inactivity was apparently caused by an equipment malfunction and unrelated to the February accord.

Intelligence authorities also dismissed speculation that Pyongyang halted the operation of its nuclear reactor to reprocess spent fuel rods.
