An online news outlet that focuses on North Korea says that a tidal wave struck the reclusive country's western coast in March and claimed the lives of over 100 North Koreans, displacing some two-thousand more.

The Daily NK cited sources inside the North saying that a tsunami in early March swept away some 100 fishermen in Cholsan, Ryongchon and Sonchon in North Pyoengyan Province.

The sources said the damage was great because a large wave hit the coast, adding that North Korean authorities ordered that the incident be kept secret.
