Bloomberg: Kim Jong-il Underwent Heart Surgery

Bloomberg News says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il underwent heart surgery last month.

The report quoted a figure connected to the Kim regime as saying Thursday that a team of heart surgeons from Germany arrived in Pyongyang last month and operated on the reclusive leader to reopen a blocked artery.

The figure, who requested anonymity as Kim’s operation is confidential, added that Kim, who is suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, is recovering smoothly from the operation.

Meanwhile, Japan's weekly magazine, Shukangendai, said last week that Kim was operated on in mid-May by a team of six German doctors in Pyongyang.
