3 Leaders to Attend IOC Meet for Winter Olympic Bid

The leaders of South Korea, Russia and Austria will attend the International Olympic Committee's general assembly in Guatemala early next month to make their final pitch before the committee decides the host city for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Citing a Guatemalan Foreign Ministry official, Reuters News says that presidents Roh Moo-hyun, Vladimir Putin of Russia and Heinz Fischer of Austria will spearhead last-minute efforts for their countries' bids at Guatemala City.

Korea's Pyeongchang is competing with Sochi, Russia and Salzburg, Austria in an especially tight race.

The attendance of the three leaders at the IOC meeting is expected to have considerable impact.
