A Japanese daily reports that North Korea did not fire a short-range missile toward the East Sea on Tuesday.

The Yomiuri Shimbun said that, according to a Japanese government source, the U.S. military confirmed that Pyongyang prepared for a missile test-firing on Tuesday but did not proceed to launch.

Earlier in the week, Japanese public broadcaster NHK had reported that the North fired a 100-kilometer range missile toward the East Sea on Tuesday.
