A radio service run by North Korean defectors will expand into medium wave broadcasting to reach North Korea more easily starting October first.

Free North Korea Radio said that it has secured 150 million won for the launch of its medium wave service, which it says will easily dodge signal jamming by North Korean authorities and allow the people to listen in using ordinary radios.

The service will also open a branch in Tokyo this Thursday to strengthen cooperation with Japanese shortwave broadcasters. It plans to work actively to form a network of North Korean escapees in Japan.

Established last December, Free North Korea Radio provides a shortwave broadcast targeting North Korea for two hours a day.
