A source well-informed on North Korean affairs said Wednesday that Pyongyang may reprimand some of its officials for causing disruptions at a recent inter-Korean reunification festival in the North Korean capital.

At the joint unification festival in Pyongyang on June 15th, Grand National Party lawmaker Park Gye-dong was denied access to a guest seat after he had reportedly offended the North Koreans by sitting down at a shrine to their late leader Kim Il-sung.

The source said that North Korea’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland recently blamed South Korea’s conservative opposition Grand National Party for the disruption, indicating that there have been calls to punish North Korean officials in charge of organizing the event.

The source added that it has become more likely that North Korea will refuse to participate in a joint reunification festival to be held in Busan on August 15th.
