Freight alliance to begin operations in January next year

Korean Air said Monday that a freight alliance comprised of Korean Air, Delta Air Lines, and Air France will start operating in January next year.
The three founding members have finished personnel appointments for executives of SkyTeam Cargo and plan to complete the integration of their cargo reservation centers in November.
One of the largest cargo alliances in the world; Sky Team Cargo was established by the three international airlines investing equal capital.
The alliance will have its headquarters in Atlanta, and will set up sales networks in 17 cities including Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
Vernard Fratini of Air France was selected as Chief Executive Officer, Kim Jin-hong of Korean Air as director dealing with imports, price management and reservation center, and Tom Nolan of Delta Airlines as a director for sales and marketing.
The official name of the joint firm was not decided, but SkyTeam Cargo USA was selected as its brand name.
The joint venture, with total capital of 2.5 million dollars, will handle reservations, sales, and marketing of international cargo being flown out of the United States.
