Korean Team Focuses on Pilot Error in Cambodia Crash

Korean investigators dispatched to Cambodia by the government to look into Monday's fatal charter plane crash said Thursday that they were trying to determine if the pilot was at fault.

Two aviation experts on the emergency team said they had visited the crash site for a preliminary investigation into the state of the plane, the route it flew and the pilot’s communication with the control tower.

They said that while a storm might have caused the crash, they pointed to pilot error as the likely main cause.

Another emergency team member said that although the bad weather might have caused flight disruptions, the pilot should have been more careful.

Under the regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization, the investigation into the cause of the crash is being led by Cambodia, where the accident happened, with participation from Korean and Russian authorities.
