Officials said Tuesday the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has decided to set up a panel on Asian cultural exchange to promote exports of Korean popular culture to China.
In order to sustain the popularity of Korean pop culture among the Chinese younger generation, the ministry also plans to send cultural missions to Korean embassies and consulates overseas and establish branches of the newly-opened Korean Cultural Contents Promotion Agency.
Culture-Tourism Minister Kim Han-gill told reporters the ministry is planning to establish a nationwide support system to develop the promising pop cultural market in China and Southeast Asia.
He said the ministry will focus more on easing regulations in China to alleviate the difficulties facing firms in the sector there, as opposed to offering them direct help.
