Koreans Shine at Tchaikovsky Competition

Musicians Yoon So-young and Shin Hyun-su are the first Korean violinists to place in the annual International Tchaikovsky Competition.

In Moscow, Yoon finished fourth in the violin section and Shin fifth.

Pianist Lim Dong-hyuk tied for fourth place in his category.

Yoon is studying in Germany, and tied for second in the 2005 Tibor Varga Violin Competition with Antal Szalai of Hungary.

Shin is attending the Korean National University of Arts in Seoul, and won third at the Sibelius Violin Competition in Finland in 2005 and the Paganini Concour in Italy in 2004.
