The Korean Central News Agency in North Korea says Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jie-chi has arrived in Pyongyang on the invitation of his North Korean counterpart Park Ui-chun.

Yang’s visit comes while hopes run high for North Korea’s nuclear dismantlement after a visit from both U.S. chief negotiator to the six-party talks Christopher Hill and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Yang is expected to stay in the North Korea for three days to discuss Beijing’s relations with Pyongyang and the North’s nuclear issue, with a strong possibility that he will meet with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-il.

It is also said that as China’s chief negotiator to the six-party talks, Yang could confirm the next possible steps to resume the multilateral negotiations with North Korea.
