Russia has hinted that it will apply to host another Olympics if the Sochi bid fails at the ongoing International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Guatemala.

A senior Russian Olympic Committee official said Wednesday that if the country loses the race for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, it will bid for the 2018 Olympics in 2011.

It's the second time around for South Korea’s Pyeongchang and Austria’s Salzburg after they both lost to the Canadian city of Vancouver four years ago. This year's bid by Russia’s Sochi is its first.
